Alleluya Band has returned back home from Italy and Portugal where they held a myriad of shows.
Band Leader Paul Subiri said they managed to hold 46 shows.
Subiri described the trip as successful because it gave them an opportunity to expose the band to the international stage.
The Balaka – based group held two shows in Portugal during the World Youth gathering which was presided over by the Pope.
According to Subiri, the shows were not only for entertainment but also to help generate resources for different projects at Andiamo in Balaka.
“We have a hospital which was built with funds from these tours and we have people from a certain age bracket who access treatment free of charge,” Subili said.
The 13 – member entourage included Father Mario, Coss Chiwalo, who is one of the oldest in the group and vice band leader Gertrude Naluso.
In an interview, Chiwalo said this was his 19th trip and the beauty about it is that this time around, he had travelled with his daughter Anna who is a Music Crossroads Malawi Academy graduate and a full time member of Alleluya Band.
