Malawi Congress Party delegates who converged at Chule Primary School in Dedza Central Constituency on Wednesday, 30th August, 2023 to elect a candidate among the ten aspirants for the forthcoming Parliamentary by-election have set for Willard Gwengwe to carry the mantle on behalf of the party.

According to reports that we have, Gwengwe who was among the ten contestants got 508 votes of 1,314 votes casted to be declared winner with Donald Kazanga scooping 241 votes as his runners-up.

The delegates we interviewed soon after voting described the election process as free, fair and transparent.

Gwengwe once served as a Member of Parliament for Lilongwe South East Constituency.

Malawi Electoral Commission is in the process of holding by-election in Dedza Central Constituency following the death of late Daniel Chiwere who until his death on 17th July this year was the Parliamentarian for the area.
