Chakwera assures people of the Northern Region of more projects

President Lazarus Chakwera who has in the afternoon of Tuesday, 5th September, 2023 arrived in Mzuzu on his official tour of the Northern Region has said his government is committed towards developing the region by among other things initiating more developmental projects aiming at boosting social and economic progress of the region.

He made the remarks when he addressed a huge crowd of people that gathered to welcome him at Mzuzu Shoprite roundabout in the city of Mzuzu.

“We are here in the North for three official duties; celebrating together the Mzuzu University 25 years of existence since inception, and two projects in Nkhata-Bay of Water and Mega Farm.

These three; Education, Water and Sanitation, as well as Food Security are very important to us as Northern Region and out country at large. We will soon come again here for inauguration of other projects your government is initiating in this region to uplift the development of the North” Said President Chakwera.

In his remarks, Vice President for Malawi Congress Party, Harry Mlekanjala Mkandawire said the warm welcome President Chakwera has received in the region signifies the satisfaction people in the region have in the leadership of Chakwera and how ready they are to usher him into office for his second term to 2030.

On his part, the Regional Chairman for North, Joseph Chavula said the region is thankful to the President for the official duties he has gone to perform in the North, adding that the key for development of the country laid in the hands of MCP leadership, hence many developments since the party regained power in 2020.

Meanwhile, President Lazarus Chakwera is scheduled to preside over the 25th congregation of Mzuzu University students on Wednesday, 6th September, 2023, before inaugurating Nkhata-Bay Water Project and launching Mega Farms Programme also in Nkhata-Bay district later in the week.
