President Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera has underscored the need for Chiefs in this country to be in the forefront preserving natural resources.
President Chakwera was speaking on Thursday at the first National Chiefs Forum on Natural Resources Management in Lilongwe.
He said: “Within the context of Malawi, making the environment more productive and healthy to sustain our way of life cannot be accomplished without the leadership of our Chiefs who are the custodians of our way of life.”
The Malawi leader also called on Malawians to take part in preserving nature saying that doing so will ensure that future generations will inherit safe environment.
The National Chiefs Forum is a government spearheaded program aimed at involving chiefs in this country to take a leading role in preserving natural resources.
