Malawi leader President Dr Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera on Monday 28 August , 2023 challenged Malawians who are working in various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to be catalyst for development if Malawi is to achieve the Malawi2063 vision.

President Chakwera was speaking in Dowa during a development rally which was organised soon after presiding over the grand opening of Kalipano Hotel built with personal finance of Dr Napoleon Dzombe.

Chakwera urged civil servants to desist from demanding money on the job which they are already doing.

Chakwera gave an example of what was happening with previous workers who demanded money from Dzombe which prompted him to abandon a project in the City of Lilongwe.

Chakwera said as a country there is a need to work hard so that as a country “we are able to achieve our goals”.

Speaking earlier, Malawi Congress Party Secretary General Elsenhower Mkaka advised Chakwera not to be distracted by haters but rather focus on development.
