Chakwera hails people of Kasungu for subscribing to Kamuzu’s development plan

Malawi President Dr Lazarus Chakwera has commended people in Kasungu for their dedication to national development.

Chakwera was speaking when he addressed a mammoth gathering at Kasungu Boma during a stopover from his Mzuzu trip.

Chakwera said with how hardworking Kasungu people are, it’s more than good to turn the district into a fully-fledged city.

The President commended people of being hard workers in as far as farming is concerned.

Chakwera says Kasungu is one of the district earmarked for big projects in all key sectors of the economy so that its status should be lifted to that of a city in the foreseeable future.

President Chakwera assured the people of Kasungu that his administration has lined up several development projects and economic activities that will help create job opportunities.

He further promised the people of Kasungu that government will revive most of the defunct irrigation schemes in the district to make the district a food basket it is renowned for.

Before the Kasungu mini-rally, President Chakwera visited Chatoloma Quarry Site where he was briefed by Mota Engil officials on progress of rehabilitation works on the M1 Road (the stretch from Kasungu to Mzimba turn-off).
