President Lazarus Chakwera has described Malawi as a better country placed for investment as it is one of the most world peaceful places which is ranked amongst the top ten naturally beautiful places to visit in Africa, and has competitive business environment.
Chakwera made the remarks on Monday, 18th September, 2023 at the Invest in Malawi Forum held in New York on the sidelines of the ongoing UN General Assembly which aimed at inviting more investors to partner Malawi by investing in the country.
Speaking during the forum, President Chakwera said Malawi has opportunities in Agriculture, Tourism, Mining, Education, Health, and Transport among many sectors of investment the country has.
“If you go to Malawi today, you will find that the whole place is a construction site of various road and rail infrastructural projects, because these are going to be crucial in the movement of people and goods in and out of Malawi during the investment revolution that is coming. If you go to Malawi today, you will find that we are implementing various energy projects to triple our electricity generation capacity in the next few years, because this will power the industrialization and digitization revolution we are preparing Malawi for going forward” Said Malawi leader while encouraging different investors to consider getting a head start on the opportunities in Malawi for a win-win partnership.
President Chakwera then assured the potential investors that the country’s economy will soon stabilize and be attractive, hence a need to join the journey it has embarked on towards the new destination.
Added the President; “When you invest in Malawi, you will also have access to a much wider market than Malawi itself. Regional and Continental markets such as the African Market through the Southern African Development Community (SADC), Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), and the African Continental Free Trade Area.
