As he winds up his BRICS tour in Johannesburg, President Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera on Friday held talks with Richard Chandler where they brainstormed on ways of creating a corrupt free governance structure as well as being accommodative to citizen activism.
Richard Chandler is the Chair of Clermont Group and Founder of both the Chandler Foundation and the Chandler Institute of Government.
“We have discussed how best my administration and Chandler Foundation should scale up our partnership in transforming the entire governance structure to make it corruption free and accommodative to citizen activism,” Chakwera wrote on his Facebook page.
Chakwera added that Chandler Foundation has become a key partner in our anti – corruption drive through a range of capacity building interventions.
“Last year they sponsored the National Anti – Corruption Conference which I convened to galvanise efforts against the vice,” he said.
The Malawi leader said Chandler Foundation has played a huge role in the activation of Malawi’s membership in the open government partnership which enhances the level of transparency and accountability in the public sector.
Chakwera is expected back home today.
