Chakwera tells graduating students to go and transform the economy

Malawi President Dr Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera urged the newly graduating students from Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST) to go and make use of their knowledge, skills to transform the economy.

Speaking in his capacity as Chancellor of the University, Chakwera said he was happy to see various products at the campus made by students.

During the ceremony, 400 stidents graduated at its 4th Congregation.Chakwera said he was happy to see the dividends on the promise of producing graduates who will transform the economy.

“These are dividends, for they hold the promise of producing
graduates who will transition our economy from net consumption to net production, thus taking us closer to the realization of our Malawi 2063 vision of becoming a self-reliant nation,” he said.

The President said that as a leading science university, the institution should continue adding a valuable dimension to Malawi’s development trajectory through scientific discovery and impartation of entrepreneurial skill sets.

He added that he also take great interest to see that MUST is running programs that are futuristic and also key in laying strong foundations for a Malawi that will compete advantageously within the global context.

Some of these include artificial intelligence, robotics, and modern technologies in medical diagnostics.

What President Chakwera is doing today is in line with Malawi Agenda 2063 and is also in line with the Manifesto of the Malawi Congress Party.
