Malawi First Lady Monica Chakwera to grace this year’s Qadria Muslim Association National Dawah in LL

Malawi’s First Lady Madame Monica Chakwera is tomorrow expected to precised over the Qadria women National Muslim Dawah which will take place at the Lilongwe Community Centre ground in the heart of Malawi Capital.

Addressing a news conference the organizing committee led by its Women national chairperson, Mrs Khadija Tambala, said all is set for the function.

Tambala said the National Muslim Dawah is a religious events where Muslim women across Malawi come together discuss issues affecting their lives in an Islamic perspective.

Tambala said every year the National Women Committee for Qadria Muslim Association of Malawi (QMAM) do organize the function with different theme to teach Muslim women, understand the trend and how they can work with government to achieve development goals.

“This year’s theme is Empowering Muslim Women in the fight against Climate Change- (Kupereka Upangiri Kwa zimayi
polimbana ndikusintha kwa nyengo)
The Muslim women would want to link the Islamic scriptures which talks about climate change,” she said .

Tambala added that Islam is a religion that emphasizes the importance of
environmental stewardship and the protection of the natural world.

“Islam teaches that the earth is a sacred trust from Allah (God) and it is the responsibility of humankind to
act as stewards of the environmental. The Quran reminds us that the earth has been created with balance and harmony and that humans should not disturb this balance, ” she said.

She said Climate change, which is caused by human activities such as deforestation and the burning of fossil fuels, is a clear
violation of this trust.

“Muslims are therefore called upon to
take action to mitigate climate change and to protect the earth for future generations. This includes adopting sustainable practices, conserving natural resources,
reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and promoting environmental justice, ”

She added: “And do not corrupt the earth after its reformation, and call upon Him in fear and hope. Indeed, the mercy of Allah is near to the doers of good” Ndipo

The Qadria Muslim Association of Malawi (QMAM) is a nonprofit making faith based organization (FBO/NGO) committed of working for humanity in Malawi. QMAM is an umbrella body for Muslims and organizations who ascribe to the tents of Ahli-Sunnah Wal-Jammah and the qadriyya tariqa (path) in the country. Founded in 1997 QMAM registered in October 1999 under the Trustees Incorporation Act of 1963 and works in cognizance with the NGO Act of
2000. It’s a member of the Council for Non-Governmental organization.

The function has been made possible with financial support from Limbe Muslim Jamaat and Lilongwe Suni Foundation.
