The Ministry of Agriculture on Monday commended Saud Arabian Government for the support being rendered to Malawi Government.
Ministry of Agriculture Principal Secretary Dixie Kampani said this while receiving a donation of fertilizer and maize seeds from the Government of Saudi Arabia through the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre during a ceremony held at the Ministry of Agricultural Offices at Capital Hill, Lilongwe.
Upon receiving the donation, Kampani, said the donation is timely since it will help those families who were greatly affected by Cyclone Freddy.
Kampani mentioned that the ministry is also aiming to assist farmers who are pursuing winter cropping in order to supplement the current crop production.
The donation consists of 50 metric tonnes of UREA, 50 metric tonnes of NPK, and 1000 metric tonnes of seeds, approximately 10 kg each.
Kampani further emphasized that the Affordable Inputs Program (AIP) is currently at an advanced stage.
