Malawi President Dr Lazarus Chakwera on Wednesday presided over the launch of a book which his son Nick has published.

The book has jointly been authored by Nick and Pastor Fatsani Kwenda.

Speaking during the ceremony, Chakwera described the newly launched book, as an excellent tool for self reflection by all Malawians and to fully understand that religion and politics are complementary.

Chakwera said for a long time issues of religion and politics have sparked a lot of debates in the public domain saying the two can’t go together.

He however said politics is a ministry whose core purpose is to provide service to the citizens with honesty aided by religious values.

The Malawi leader said it is time for believers not to hide in prayers only, but move into action and stand against injustices and stand for the poor, as salt and light to the world.

Speaking earlier, Deputy Minister of Local Government, Unity and Culture Owen Chomanika said people of the church are agents of change, hence they need to be incorporated into various social structures, to bring change and foster development.

He commended the book for coming up with a proper definition of politics as an art of governance in which everyone should be actively involved as politics defines everything that affects humanity.

The newly launched book went through an auction which saw the President buying a copy at K3 Million and the Vice President at K2 Million.

During the function, Former Vice president of Zambia Pastor Nevers Mumba was also in attendance.
