Malawi Head of State Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera is leaving no stone unturned on his United States trip.

What is most striking about this outing is that President Chakwera is using every opportunity to pitch Malawi’s developmental agenda to developnt partners gathered at the 78th UN General Assembly.

On Tuesday, President Chakwera engaged the Clinton Global Initiative at the organisation’s annual event for multi-sectoral deliberations on food insecurity and and building resilient food systems.

At the event, President Chakwera lobbied participants to consider coming to invest in Malawi and support the agricultural sector which he said has great potential in light of the Mega Farming initiative.

Of particular interest, President Chakwera told the audience that there is a need for the interested partners to seriously invest in the areas of irrigation as one way of making Malawi’s dream of comercial agriculture a reality.
