By Kondanani Chilimunthaka

The 2023 Presidential Charity Golf Initiative scheduled for 7th October has received a boost from the First Capital Bank (FCB) with a K100 Million contribution from the bank.

This was revealed during the unveiling ceremony of the bank as this year’s main sponsor of the tournament at a ceremony that took place at Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe.

Speaking during the ceremony, President Lazarus Chakwera said he was delighted that the bank has come forward to partner in the initiative, describing the gesture as a typical example of the country’s potential in realizing a self-reliant nation as outlined in the Malawi 2063 vision.

“The bank is known for its corporate social responsibility in Malawi, and this package will sustain our momentum to support those in need. It is through partnerships like this that we find lasting solutions to challenges facing our society” Said President Chakwera.

In her remarks, bank’s Chief Executive Officer, Agnes Jazza said FCB feels duty bound to complement government efforts in education, health, and other strategic sectors in line with the bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility.

“Our mission extends beyond education. Nature’s wrath can devastate the community as we saw the havoc that was wrecked by Cyclone Freddy. That is why we have decided to join this initiative as the main sponsor for this year” Added Jazza.

Resources accumulated from this year’s initiative will be channeled towards supporting the underprivileged University students and victims of the devastating Cyclone Freddy.
